Description
The City Demands
Syr Haildar, once mockingly bynamed Lord Skyfall for the seemingly endless rain that blighted his lands and washed away his roads. Yet he bore the jeers as he bore the rains — letting them run off his shoulders while he toiled on. For Haildar knew each downpour carried the promise of strength and fortune.
And in time the rain fed the rivers, the rivers provided, the millwheels turned, and from their rhythm came bread for his people, cloth for his markets, and coin for his purse. From those same waters sailed the ships that carried his city’s labour afar and returned laden with treasure. From that sodden earth, too, among the hemp, flax, and roots, bloomed the red rose, proud against the mire.
Ship and rose together became his sigil, proof that what was once mockery had turned to might. Thus, the once-scorned name was now spoken with the greatest honour. Coin became power, and power swept aside the mightiest lords in the realm and beyond.
So stands Syr Haildar, Stormborn.
