Syr Corvalen

I Abide

For centuries the Realm of Caledon has named a Justiciar to bear the title Syr Corvalen. Each accepts the charge in private and emerges from the ritual no longer himself. No record notes succession. The illusion is deliberate; the continuity essential. To Caledon, there has only ever been one Syr Corvalen.

The Justiciar serves as protector of the Realm, instrument of judgment, and commander of a near-mythic order of enforcers garrisoned in a vast smoky citadel. His duty is not to interpret law but to embody it — to maintain the Realm. When belief overreaches reason or ambition fractures unity, Corvalen stirs. He restores balance through action, not argument — his sanction defines the Realm. He appears when order weakens, delivers justice, and withdraws again into the structure that sustains him — whether against external threat or divisions and treasons within.

In every age his appearance remains unchanged. His maroon fabrics are dyed with pigment drawn from the shells of the thais sea snail — a colour so costly and rare it became a mark of power and establishment itself. He carries an axe as old as the Realm itself, Arbiter. The mask of Syr Corvalen never changes. Only the man inside it does.

Within Caledon, this fiction is accepted as truth.
